What a Weekend

Had some cooling problems with the car last week. That erodes confidence and increases stress. Finally figured out it was the ECT Sensor The wires were exposed to the turbos and the unit was just bad. When that happens it returns an inconsistent reading to the computer. When the computer receives an inconsistent reading it starts trying to correct things. When things aren’t wrong and the computer tries to correct things, well it just ends up a bad day. So anyhow got that fixed and the coolant temperature is stable.

Walking the Dog

Me n Ethyl took the dog out for a walk tonight. The dog marked all the appropriate upright items. Getting real. Not really, we are just breaking the car in so we can out the real tune and the higher value springs on it.Still need to wire up the boost controller, tune it, put the seat in, fix the hood, align the front end and bead lock the drag pack wheels and slicks. Headliner Blues

Tore the sagging liner out today. Thinking up ideas. I was pressing for a Velvet Elvis headliner. Can’t find one that suits me though. I have been looking at some shaggy Mink too but was afraid some activist would douse me in red paint or blood. Continue reading

Bringin Ethyl Home

Sullivan’s Motorsports in Dallas finished the TH400 today. Put in a new front pump and freshened it up. Still lots of work to do on the car but it was a hoot to drive, even with only 4 PSI springs on the Turbos. The BOV was enough to scare the crap out of a few onlookers.

Got a little deeper into the transmission than I had hoped to today. Nate at Sullivan’s pulled it. The Torque converter I put into it was not sized right and we had beat up the pump pretty bad. We’d been keeping an eye out on the front aluminum hub for a couple of years now and we’ve decided to put it back to an iron piece. Little speed bump in the highway to hell but we are still headed home with this thing. Continue reading

Corbeau Forza

Corbeau Forza

Got my 1st Corbeau Seat in today. Hoping a pair of them will save about 65 lbs. Have been putting this off because the GTO seats are probably among the most comfortable GM seats.

Ethyl’s Hoods

Hood 10

Hood 10

We’re on the eleventh Hood for Ethyl. We’ve tried just about everything but still have one Idea that we think would be awesome. We’d like to put old school hot rod louvers on a 2004 GTO hood. Unfortunately our current setup is too high for a stock 2004 GTO hood to fit. The fist hood we had on the car was of course the one that came with it. we wanted to do something different and went out and found two louvered vents from a 280z. Continue reading
