Fire and Recovery

On 6 October 2014 while we were taking the car to SNL for some final touch ups and tuning ma wiring short set the insulation on fire. It was a close run thing. We drove 60 miles and pulled right up top the shop where two of the SNL team were standing next to fire extinguishers when the fire actually flashed. It lifted the hood and damaged the wiring harness substantially. It took from October to the end of December to pull the engine and rebuild the harness then proceed with the original tuning as planned. It was a frustrating process after coming so far to essentially have to redo everything one more time. However, Brian Crowe at SNL stepped up to the task and did a first rate job rewiring the car greatly improving the stability and susceptibility to gremlins we had been experiencing. Steve replumbed the Boost Leash Controller with Co2. James Karger retuned the car in very good order achieving 1256/1504 through a TH400, unlocked converter, and 9 inch ford rear member. We stopped at 1256 which was produced at 23 lbs of boost because that number through those restrictions was somewhere near the limits of the LSx Engine Build.
